Prism cage

I designed this piece, based on the rhombicosidodecahedron, to fit around a spherical prism.

From this angle you can see the green spikes that project inward to touch the prism.

This thing took me quite a long time to put together! There are 84 pieces altogether: 24 purple and 20 each of red, green & blue (the spikes). All that structure makes this piece strong. A lot of my pieces feel very sturdy, but this one is exceptional. I feel like I could throw it out of a plane and the prism would be unscathed! I'll never get the chance to test this, though, because I sold it.

A part of me wanted to keep it for myself, but I can always make another one. The prism wasn't cheap though..
